EMO Hannover 2025 presented the AI Hub@EMO, a future lab for industry. One highlight was the EMIL chatbot, which provided interactive support to trade fair visitors. Developed by aiXbrain GmbH in cooperation with the Machine Tool Laboratory (WZL) at RWTH Aachen University, EMIL demonstrated how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used in practice in production.
Visitors to the trade fair stand were able to quickly find AI-related information in a chat with EMIL
, view hall plans and their stands
, and ask about AI solutions in metalworking and exhibitors offering such solutions.EMIL thus made Industry 4.0 tangible for trade visitors, developers, and decision-makers.
Chatbot EMIL – Orientation at the trade fair Visiting a trade fair can often be overwhelming: hundreds of booths, countless innovations. It's easy to lose track of things and wish you had a digital companion – this is exactly where EMIL comes in.
Multilingual: EMIL is available in German and English.
Practical training: It is based on a large language model (LLM), specially fed with the exhibitor profiles of EMO Hannover.
Interactive: Visitors experience AI live and receive personalized answers.
Dr. Simon Görtzen, CTO of aiXbrain, and his team were able to draw on their experience in implementing machine-specific AI solutions.
"A public application in the context of such a large trade fair poses special challenges in terms of training and quality assurance. But as a team, we were able to solve this efficiently."
This makes EMIL a best practice example for chatbots in the trade fair environment.
Especially at leading international trade fairs such as EMO, chatbots like EMIL will help save time, find information faster, and make visits more efficient in the future.
Low-threshold access to AI: EMIL makes complex technologies understandable.
Practical orientation: Instead of theoretical explanations, visitors experience AI directly.
Bridge between research and industry: The AI Hub@EMO combines university expertise with real-world production solutions.
👉 This makes EMIL a flagship for AI in production and shows how Industry 4.0 is already being implemented today.
